Pride and Solidarity

This process drama focused unit looks at the events surrounding the 1980’s Miner’s strike in Great Britain, where members of an LGBTQ group raised money to support the labor protests of rural mining towns. The unit uses drama as a mechanism for developing empathy, understanding, and appreciation for the complex relationships between the various groups involved in the conflict. Central to the unit, students will watch the film Pride which dramatizes the subject.
Students will be able to examine the impacts of intersectionality on communities, and speak to the potential benefits of intersectionality, both historically and in their own lives.
